Best Ever Nut Bread

Ingredients
2/3 c. shortening                                                                
1 tsp. salt
2 c. sugar                                                                     
½ tsp. baking powder
4 eggs                                                                                
1 tsp. ground cinnamon
2 c. split pea puree                                                           
½ tsp. ground cloves
2/3 c. water   
½ tsp. ground nutmeg
3 1/3 c. sifted flour
1 c. walnuts or pecans, chopped
2 tsp. baking soda
 

Directions
Preheat oven 350 degrees. Cream together shortening and sugar. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Add split pea puree and water. In a separate bowl, sift together dry ingredients, except nuts. Stir into creamed mixture along with nuts. Bake in 2 well-greased 5x9-inch loaf pans for 60 – 70 minutes. When a toothpick inserted into the center of the loaf come out clean, the bread is done. Cool loaves and store in airtight plastic bags.
