Rasmussen is a 4^th generation farmer and farms with his wife, parents, and brother. The Rasmussen’s first experience with planting pulses was over 20 years ago when they were part of the farming community in Saskatchewan. Since then, they have been planting lentils and more recently have added chickpeas as a mainstay in their farming rotation. “The pulse industry continues to have a bright future driven by increased domestic consumption, high nutritional value, improved genetics, consumer awareness and the value-added of fractionation,” states Rasmussen. Rasmussen wanted to be elected to the NPGA Board to represent the growers in his area and share his experiences with the rest of the industry, value chain and consumers.
