If you are looking to replace the animal-based protein in your dog's diet, you can't do much better then pulses. "Grain Free' pet foods are one of the most popular varieties on the market. To replace the grains, most manufacturers are using peas/legumes. Peas are a staple of many dry dog food brands and formulas. They provide a high-quality carbohydrates and fiber while still being relatively cheap. The also contain a modest range of vitamins and minerals including Vitamin A, C, and K.
