Join us in 2018 in celebrating 25 years of success with the North Dakota pulse industry! From its humble beginnings the industry has continued to grow by leaps and bounds. The industry got its start when a small group of individuals had the vision to see the possibilities of agronomic benefits, market opportunities and producer profitability. Much has changed since those first years but one thing has not—the support and dedication of the producers in North Dakota who have committed check off funding to make this industry what it is today.
In 2016, historic numbers of acres were planted across the United States. In the early years North Dakota held the rank of number of pulse producing State. Since that time our neighbors to the West have realized the potential that pulses contribute to their agriculture economy. Over the past five years Montana has held the spot of number one producer with North Dakota in second place. The region currently makes up more than 85% percent of all U.S. pulse production.
